well that's it!  i'm off to partake in gary's australian tour.  hopefully you have found this page useful, entertaining and euphora-inducing.  A couple bits of trivia to leave you with:

gary's venue in melbourne is within a stone's throw of webb bridge.

gary's venue in sydney will be the host to basement jaxx two days before gary plays there.  basement jaxx famously covered gary's metal riff for their song where's your head at?

see you down under the park, where the machmen meet the machines and watch gary onstage.

gary gets a cool birthday gift march 8th when he gets to play to a sold out crowd at the golden plains festival.  that's right, all the tix are history.

victoria authorities reckon the fires will be under control within a week, well in time for gary's tour.

melbourne tickets are now being spotted and sold on ebay.  so far the bidding is at $15.50 for 2.  tickets are still plentiful for all the shows.  no shoving!  there's enough for everyone!  much thanks to peter "numanaus" for the ebay spotting.

speaking of melbourne, the city has recorded its hottest ever day on record today. 47.4c or 117.32f.  Now that is hot.

more planned attendees have been added.

the sydney citysearch publication features an excellent and exclusive interview with gary numan about his upcoming visit to oz.  check it out here!

nature's fury has been unleashed on australia as of late.  monsoons recently occurred in the state of queensland which includes brisbane, creating states of emergency. and melbourne just recorded its third most hottest day on record this week.  it has been so warm there, people are staying away from beaches only arriving to surf and swim after 6 pm.  the heat has been causing transformer explosions and power outages in the city and bush fires in the suburbs, also threatening main wires and electricity supply.  let's keep our fingers crossed numan's shows go off without a power outage, monsoon, cyclone or kangaroo swarm!  peter in melbourne sent us a picture of an ice cream truck in the city.

more planned attendees have been added below!  if you are attending any of the shows, be famous and let us know!

more planned attendees have been added, with more to come next week.

martin purvis, curator of australia's best numan site outland, wrote today to mention that he is hosting at least 5 brits and a canadian at his place during the australian tour in march.  that is going to be one mad numan slumber party!  outland seems to have joined the rip van winkle brigade, but maybe if we ask really nicely, we'll be treated to new trademark shite outland fans clamor for.

1/22/09

the gold balcony seating in sydney has officially sold out.  all other balcony and standing tickets in sydney are still up for grabs, as are all ticket options in brisbane, melbourne and meredith.

peter "numanaus" has already spotted a numan sydney ticket on ebay going for retail price.

i scored tickets to the first three shows this morning.  handy machman tip of the day: if you are buying more than one ticket, put them all in your basket and buy them all at once to avoid getting dinged the 6.95 handling fee for each ticket.

gary has done his first australian interview in decades.  check it out here.  much thanks to anita in brisbane for sending us this historic interview!

more information about the preshow party spot in sydney.  the café/snack bar is located in the lower bar area and offers espresso coffee, tea, homemade pizzas, fish n chips, pies, sausage rolls, seasoned wedges, hot chips and a selection of fresh sandwiches. other menu items will be available to honour the event.

the brisbane tivoli holds 600 people, the sydney enmore can hold 1300 numanoids, and the melbourne forum theatre can hold 800.  tickets are still available for all the shows and the meredith festival.

this is only the second time a foreign country has had a numan tour to themselves.  the first one was the memorable 1982 i, assassin tour in the states.

this may be a minor detail, but i was almost caught unaware as i never applied for a travel visa.  if i save one numanoids's trip it will be worth mentioning.  australia requires a visa from all foreigners.  some visitors (north american and most asian countries) can grab one online (it took me 10 seconds and $20), and others (uk and europe) will need to contact their local australian embassy.

if you are following the tour, don't pass up this amazing deal on the train.  for just $232 australian you can score 14 days of unlimited access to 350 destinations including all the numan shows.  you need to be a non-aussie and show your return airline ticket.  book yours here!

today's edition of the us news site msnbc.com features an entertaining article detailing the fun things to do in sydney.  one suggestion is a game you can play: at the sydney opera house, count the seconds before someone hands you a camera and asks you to take their picture!  check out the article here.

peter "numanaus" sent me this comic to give visiting numanoids a contemporary taste of australia.

mandy kane and pivot are the opening bands for each of the first three shows.

for the first three shows, there is a silver and gold ticket option.  i checked on the venue and ticket websites and it is not at all clear what the advantage is of shelling out for the gold ticket, so i enquired with the venue.  here is how it shakes out:

downstairs is all standing, it is divided into a front and back section, you cannot move between the 2 sections, the front section is the gold section and the back section is the silver section.

upstairs is all seated, the front section, which is called the lounge, are the gold seats while the second section, which is called the circle, are the silver seats.

here it is!  the internet's largest resource of news for the 2009 australian numan tour.  i'm still looking for a place to hold a nagnfc preshow party in brisbane so i'm open to ideas.  i remember how cool the nagnfc preshow party was before gary's first show in the usa for 16 years, so the brisbane party should be double cool since it's been twice that long since gary has been to the continent down under.

if you are attending any of the shows, be sure and let us know so i can add your name to the planned attendees section.  there will be a picture section at the bottom if you want to send a pic of yourself as well.

interesting to note the melbourne forum was built 100 years before 'strange charm' was released!

tickets are still available for all the shows.

thanks to peter in melbourne for these excellent pics from the forum.  i've never seen an artist plastered all over the facade three months before the show.  this is going to be huge!
